Sex offender arrested at Polk elementary school
OLD FORT, POLK COUNTY (WRCB) – A Polk County man was arrested for violating Tennessee sex offender regulations.
William Baker, 49, was arrested September 20th for violating rules barring sex offenders from entering schools.
Baker and a cross-dressing friend went to Grand Parent's day at South Polk Elementary.
Baker gave a neighbor a ride there that was having car troubles.
Police say Baker decided to stay and eat with the kids. People became suspicious when the cross-dressing friend, who was a man, went to the girl's bathroom.
Staff took pictures of the two and then checked the Sex Offender Registry.
That's when they found Baker's name and called the police.
Baker is out on bond and due in court October 27th. It is estimated anywhere from 300-400 students/parents at the event.
