CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - The U.S. Senate has confirmed William C. Killian of Jasper as U.S. attorney for East Tennessee.
Republican Lamar Alexander said in an e-mail Thursday that he is glad the Senate has confirmed the Obama administration nominee so he can put his experience to work for the people of East Tennessee.
The 61-year-old Killian's website shows his law practice has specialized in criminal defense, personal injury, workers' compensation and civil litigation.
He has been city attorney for the town of Monteagle since 1996 and was assistant district attorney for the 12th Judicial District in southeast Tennessee from 1976 to 1979 and from 1988 to 1990.
Killian was admitted to law practice in Tennessee in 1975.
He succeeds James R. "Russ" Dedrick, who retired.
