Volkswagen celebrates opening of supplier park
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- The lights are now on at the Volkswagen supplier park at Enterprise South.
Thursday, the company powered up the building and announced a Dutch logistics company called CEVA as the latest tenant.
CEVA could ultimately hire as many as 140 workers.
"In this challenging economy, it is a strong statement that our suppliers choose to partner with us here on-site," said Frank Fischer, CEO and Chairman for Volkswagen in Chattanooga.
The supplier park is adjacent to the billion-dollar assembly plant.
"The supplier park is a crucial link in our production," said Fischer.
It's a 21-million dollar investment and it's huge. The park consists of two buildings, each 223,200 square feet in size.
Production is on target to begin early next year.
