CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - Some voters are griping that Republican nominee Chuck Fleischmann is running from his opponents in Tennessee's solidly GOP 3rd Congressional District.
It's not just Democrats.
The Chattanooga lawyer is counting on getting elected to the seat opened by popular eight termer Zach Wamp running for governor.
Fleischmann refuses to attend any forum or debate that means going face-to-face with Democrat John Wolfe or independent candidates on the Nov. 2 ballot.
Wolfe has bought a radio ad that uses Kenny Rogers' hit tune to describe Fleischmann as a "coward of the county." Some tea partiers, and even voters who say they traditionally "lean right," say they are miffed about Fleischmann refusing to attend forums and debates.
Fleischmann says he isn't hearing any complaints.
