South Pittsburg, TN - (WRCB)  The pre-game fireworks in South Pittsburg on Friday night were followed by a bigger display that lasted four quarters at Beene Stadium.

After six lead changes, it was the fire power of second-ranked Signal Mountain that prevailed 40-36 over top-ranked South Pittsburg.

The first half belonged to the Pirates and their big plays.  A 74-yard rushing touchdown from the speedy Raquis Hale, followed by a 40-yard touchdown from Demetric "Little Man" Johnson, to put the Pirates up 28-21 at the half.

But The second half belonged to the Eagles.

Thanks much in part to quarterback Hogan Whitmire and John Patton's three touchdowns on the day. With just under eight minutes left in the half, Whitmire put Signal up by four points with a seven yard touchdown scamper.

On the ensuing South Pittsburg drive, the Eagles forced a turnover and ran the clock out.  All but putting them in the drivers street for the District 6-A championship.
