DALTON, WHITFIELD COUNTY, TN (WRCB) -- The Dalton Police Department needs helping in locating a pickup truck involved in a "hit and run" involving a 7 year old male, riding a bicycle.

The crash happened at about 5:35 PM, on Wednesday, September 1515th, in the 800 block of Showalter Ave.  The juvenile was transported to TC Thompson late Wednesday night.

A witness stated that he heard a loud noise and saw that a pickup truck had struck the juvenile on the bicycle.  The witness further stated that the driver of the pickup, a young Hispanic male, got out of the truck, picked up the bicycle and its rider and carried them to the door step of a residence.

The individual living at that residence told police investigating the crash that he heard a knock on his front door and when he opened the door there was a young Hispanic male carrying the juvenile.  The male then told the resident that he had struck the juvenile in the road.  When the resident informed the male that he would call the police, the male set the juvenile down and fled the scene.

Both witnesses described the vehicle that fled the scene as a Brown Chevrolet Silverado, with a partial GA Tag of "1779".  Both witnesses further stated that the truck was coming from the dead end area of Showalter Ave.

Investigators at the scene spoke with a resident in that area and she advised that the driver of the truck had just left her residence.  The only information she knew about the driver was that his first name was possibly "Lasetro".

If anyone has information about the driver or the truck that fled the scene, they are asked to call the Dalton Police Department's Traffic enforcement Unit at 706-278-9085, ext 124.
