A unique quilt that was nearly a year in the making may provide treatment for a former abuse victim.

Susan Hyder of Cleveland, Tennessee is recovering from decades of abuse.  In her mid-forties, she's in a good place now with a loving husband and a less stressful career.  The former RN owns a quilt shop with her husband.   Therapists tell Susan she has PTSD, or post traumatic stress disorder.   She says in-patient treatment at a clinic in West Virginia has greatly helped with her recovery.  But it will cost several thousand dollars to go back and the Hyders don't have insurance to cover it.

Chris Hyder came up with the idea of creating a quilt with the autographs of some of the legends in country music.  Nearly a year ago he sent out letters telling the stars what they were doing.  The response was great.  Some stars sent letter wishing them well, and almost all of them autographed and returned the piece of fabric Chris had sent.   The autographs on the quilt read like a roster at the Hall of Fame:  Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Jr.,  Jimmy Dean (just before he died), Kenny Rogers,  Brenda Lee,  Jimmy Dickens, Charlie Daniel, the Statler Brothers.

If you'd like to bid on the quilt, call Chris Hyder at 423-2908 or go to www.hyderhangout.com to find out more.
