CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Chattanooga fire investigators arrested a woman over the weekend after she allegedly started a fire in an apartment building.

Friday night, an argument between 27-year-old Latanya Ballanger and her boyfriend Dexter Jones led to Ballanger allegedly setting Jones' clothes on fire.

According to Lt. Anthony Moore with the Fire Investigations Division, witnesses stated they saw Ballanger arrived at the apartment building with her 11-year-old daughter, stating she intended to burn his clothes she was carrying.

They told Lt. Moore that Ballanger then walked around the out of sight, and soon after, returned to her car and drove away. Moments later, smoke could be seen coming from around the corner.

Chattanooga firefighters with Engine 15 arrived a short time later and found a pile of clothes burning in front of the apartment door where Mr. Jones lived.  The fire was quickly extinguished and damage to the exterior of the apartment was minimal.

No one was injured.

After a quick investigation, Lt. Moore apprehended Ms. Ballanger and charged her with aggravated arson.  She was then transported to the county jail for booking.

Ms. Ballanger, who already had other charges pending against her, denied setting the fire.
