CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Chattanooga Police responded to the 400 block of O'neal Street near East 5th Street on a pedestrian struck Monday evening.
Police received the call around 9:15 PM and found a 66-year-old man suffering from an apparent hip injury.
According to the victim, he was attempting to cross the street and was immediately hit after stepping off the curb by an unknown vehicle. Witnesses to the incident said that a dark colored SUV was observed leaving the scene.
Despite witness accounts, it hasn't been determined whether or not the victim stepped out into the path of the vehicle. Additionally, there was no other suspect vehicle information.
The victim was taken to a local hospital with possible hip and leg injuries although they are not believed to be life threatening. The investigation will continue.
