SOUTH PITTSBURG, Tenn. (WRCB) -- Long before the TSSAA mercy rule went into effect, Marion County's demise was swift.
Host South Pittsburg scored on its first five offensive possessions, then rode a running clock while it ran the rival Warriors into the ground in a 64-0 demolition Friday night at Beene Stadium in the Friday Night Football Highlight Game of the Night.
Raquis Hale was the early spark for the Pirates. In his first four touches, he racked up 106 yards and a score. With South Pittsburg owning a huge advantage, he sat out long portions of both halves before finishing with 139 yards and two touchdowns.
The Warriors, meanwhile, couldn't muster that much offense as a team, managing just 104 total yards.
Travis Millard threw for 182 yards and three scores, and added another on the ground while directing a Pirate attack that racked up 529 yards of total offense.
The Pirates were up 42-0 at the half, not counting the two touchdowns that were negated.
South Pitt has now won six straight over the cross-county rival, and the 64-point win was the largest margin since a 69-0 win 1953.
