CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- A man on the Hamilton County "12 Most Wanted" list has been arrested by the U.S. Marshals in Western Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Marshals arrested Russell Logan, a fugitive sex offender.

Logan was wanted by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office as a non-registered sex offender since 2004. Logan was originally convicted of attempted aggravated rape in 1996.

U.S. Marshal James T. Fowler, Eastern District of Tennessee, says "Investigators in the Chattanooga Division of the Smoky Mountains Fugitive Task Force began an investigation that identified leads that Logan was living in Western Pennsylvania and perhaps working in a hospital there". The Chattanooga investigators referred the leads they had developed to their colleagues with the Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force.

U.S. Marshal Fowler, said "After diligently working the leads we provided from our Chattanooga Division the Western Pennsylvania Task Force located Logan and arrested him late Friday night".

Logan was booked at the Alleghany County Jail in Pennsylvania where he awaits extradition back to Hamilton County to face charges for failure to register as a sex offender.

The investigation continues for possible charges against Logan for violation of the federal "Adam Walsh Act" which makes it a crime to travel between states while failing to register as a sex offender.
