POLK COUNTY, TN (WRCB)-  A man suffered a serious leg injury and is in serious condition after he was pinned by a tree in Polk County.

Robert Prince, age 62, of Ducktown was airlifted by Lifestar to Erlanger Friday afternoon.

Harry McConnell, a supervisor with Rural Metro Ambulance Service says the man was cutting down trees when he was pinned.

TVA workers spotted the man.  He had apparently been pinned for some time.

It took responders about 45 minutes to reach him because he was deep in woods, just about six miles from the Appalachian powerhouse on the Hiwassee River.

Paramedics say the man was conscious and alert during the rescue.  They can only say his leg was severely crushed.
