RINGGOLD, CATOOSA COUNTY (WRCB) - A crash on Alabama Highway in Ringgold sent at least one man to the hospital.  The accident happened when one driver didn't stop at a stop sign and pulled out in front of a tractor trailer.

The tractor trailer swerved and lost control.  Before it was over, two other vehicles crashed as well.

It was a chaotic scene on Highway 151.  "We just started going from car to car to make sure everybody was accounted for," says Chuck Smith who witnessed the crash.

Before emergency responders arrived at the scene, others traveling along the highway stopped and did what they could to help.

"The lady here was complaining her right ankle was hurting," says Smith.  "So we just had her sit there and not move."

Smith pastors a church just up the road and says he was most concerned for the white car that ended up under the tractor trailer.

"She was crawling out of the vehicle as I got out to it," he says of the young woman driving the car.  "Thankfully she was okay and the only one in the vehicle."

The young woman was visibly shaken as paramedics checked her out.  On the other side of the tractor trailer, a black SUV ended up in a ditch.

"The man in this vehicle seemed to be probably hurting the worst," says Smith.  "He pulled his shirt up and had a streak from the seat belt."

After paramedics took two people away on stretchers the tractor trailer driver appears, he's barely able to speak. "I couldn't believe that car didn't stop," says the man who didn't want to be identified.

Sometimes pictures can be deceiving.  Despite how bad the crash appeared, no one was seriously injured.

"This is just the number one thing you don't want to happen driving a truck," says the driver.  "No matter whose fault it is."
