CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Crime Stoppers is looking for a smooth criminal, who boldly stole diamonds.
The man went to the Zales in Hamilton Place Mall last Friday and asked to see an engagement set, and a diamond bracelet.
He told the clerk he had an insurance check to spend, and came back later that evening asking to see the jewels again.
That's when he sprang into action.
"She hands him the bracelet. They only hand out one at a time when you're talking three karats, and about the time she reaches for the second one he takes off. Boom, out of the store, with about $13,000 in jewelry," says Detective Mark Bender.
The man was wearing blue from head to toe, and here's another clue, he was coated in saw dust, leading Detective Bender to think he could work in construction.
