Posted: Updated:

RED BANK, HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB) – The Mayor of the City of Red Bank says members of the city commission and the city manager broke the law and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation needs to investigate.

In an open letter, Mayor Joe Glasscock says the decision to fire then-Chief of Police Larry Sneed was a violation of the Tennessee Sunshine Law.

"Sunshine Laws" are laws designed to grant the public access to government officials and documents.  Among the sunshine laws in Tennessee, if two or more members of a governing body meet to discuss official business, the meeting must be announced to the public and the held at a time and place open to the public.

Mayor Glasscock goes on to say that he has decided to request a full investigation from the TBI into the city's personnel policy, allegations of assault and alleged violations of the sunshine law.
