LIVELINES: LEGAL CALLS
A group wanting to recall Mayor Ron Littlefield turned in thousands of signatures yesterday.
It's the second batch of names they've turned in. The group needs nine thousand to put it to a vote. Recall supporters criticize the mayor for his property tax hike, and annexation plans. Election commissioners will spend the next few weeks verifying the signatures.
Attorney Gary Starnes was our guest. He said if the required number of signatures are verified, Mayor Littlefield will be recalled, Manny Rico would take over and they mayor would have the option to run again for his position if he chose that option. Some have brought up the cost of a special election and said it might be better financially to allow the mayor to complete his term.
