It was one of the most hotly contested races on the ballot... the Republican Primary for Governor.. After a long, tough, and at times nasty contest, Bill Haslam came out on top... and now turns to the general election in November to face Democrat Mike McWherter.

Political Analyst Stuart James was our guest. He said is the governor's race, Congressman Zach Wamp and Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey split the conservative vote. He also said in the third congressional district race, a crowded field help put Chuck Fleishman over the top in a very close race to defeat the heavily favored candidate Robin Smith. Stuart also said the weather impacted voter turn out, and in some upset races on the county commission, democrats did not get out and vote with the same intensity as republicans.
