CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Parents needing to get their children immunized were able to do so and get some school supplies.

The Memorial Westside Health Center held a back to school rodeo today. The clinic provided full physicals and immunizations.

Blue Cross Blue Shield provided backpacks and supplies for the kids.

There was also face painting and prizes for the kids.

"The community comes because its fun and they can do it all in one day. It helps remind the kids school is just around the corner, and that's a good thing, " says Maggie Greene, nurse practitioner.

The Tennessee Department of Health has issued new immunization requirements for children enrolling in Pre-kindergarten, Kindergarten, Seventh Grade, or as a new student.  Also, a new Immunization Certificate will be required for these children

To help you update your child's immunizations before school starts the health department is offering extended days and hours for the next few days.

On Saturday they'll be open from 8 until noon. Also open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 until 7.

The locations are the main office on 3rd street, as well as Ooltewah, at 5520 High St, and Sequoyah, at 9527 W. Ridge trail rd. You can also go to your private medical provider.
