CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Tennessee American Water announced Monday the start of a water main installation on Rollingwood Drive. This project, estimated to cost approximately $90,000, will enhance water service to the residents in the area. The new water main will replace a two and one half-inch cast iron main that was installed 55 years ago.

"The project on Rollingwood Drive involves the installation of approximately 1,000 feet of six inch water main to replace the existing two and one half-inch main that was installed in 1955. The smaller main has reached the end of its useful life. The new main will provide continued reliability to the residents in the area for many years to come," said John Watson, president of Tennessee American Water.

Watson said, "This is another example of Tennessee American Water's continued commitment to the community. We continue to invest in the system so that our customers will continue to receive high quality reliable water service for years to come. In the past 15 years, we have invested approximately $121 million into our service area water facilities and our customers still continue to receive high quality, reliable water service for less than a penny per gallon."

Construction crews will work weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tennessee American Water expects to complete the project by the end of August, weather permitting.
