FORT OGLETHROPE, CATOOSA COUNTY, GA (WRCB)-- The Fort Oglethrope City Council is close to reaching a deal with volunteer firefighters.
The POST Fire Department is paid on response, meaning they're only called when needed.
The POST has faced funding issues since last year and has been in talks to merge with the city.
No plans have been approved.
At a special called meeting Monday, city leaders discussed staffing post's fire hall day and night.
City leaders say the POST should be staffed 24-hours-a-day, that would require one part-time firefighter.
A final vote is expected at the upcoming council meeting on Monday.
