CHATTANOOGA (WRCB/AP) – Tuesday night Voters decided on everything from governor to school board.

In the race for governor, on the Democratic side Roy Barnes has won with 62% of the vote. Thurbert Baker came in second at 21%. Barnes will face the winner of the runoff in the GOP race.

Karen Handel and Nathan Deal move on to that runoff. Her candidacy was buoyed by the backing of former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, his by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.

In the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate, Georgia's Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond defeated R.J. Hadley. He will move on to face incumbent Republican Senator Johnny Isakson and Libertarian candidate Chuck Donovan in November.

Carol Porter has won the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor. She will face Republican incumbent Casey Cagle and Libertarian Rhonda Martini in the general election.

In Whitfield County School Board, district two, Jessica Swinford and William Moore advance to a runoff.

There will also be a runoff for Whitfield County School Board at Large between Bill Worley and Tony Stanley.

Folks who live in Chatsworth may be toasting Tuesday's election results. The liquor by the drink referendum passed 57% to 43%.

All Georgia runoffs will be held August 10th.
