Update:TBI seeks information on election official's murder

Update 7/22/10

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a man believed to be a Monroe County election official was shot to death.

The Medical Examiner has not positively identified the body, but says it's likely Jim Miller.

Investigators haven't named any suspects, but a deputy has been suspended in connection with the case.

SWEETWATER, MONROE COUNTY (WRCB) - The TBI is now investigating the apparent murder of an election commission chairman.

Jim Miller's body was found in the trunk of his burning car Saturday night.

A Monroe County deputy found the car on fire on Sands Road.

His family says Miller was at the Election Commission that day because of early voting.

He called his wife to say he was on his way home, but never arrived.

Sweetwater city employees say the entire town is shaken. They say Miller was generous with his money and helped a lot of people.

The TBI has set up a tip hotline for information regarding this case.  If you have information you can call 423-519-8477.

You can also call Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333, you can remain anonymous and your tip could lead to a $1,000 reward.
