MONROE COUNTY, TN. (WRCB)-- On July 17th at approximately 8:00 PM a vehicle fire was located by a Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy while on patrol.
The vehicle was fully engulfed upon arrival of the Deputy. The Deputy requested fire department assistance and Christianburg Fire Department responded to the scene on Sands Road and extinguished the fire.
During the operations of the Fire Department human remains were found in the trunk of the vehicle. The District Attorney's Office, The TBI, and Tennessee State Bomb and Arson were contacted for assistance and all three agencies responded to the scene.
Positive identification of the victim has not been made at this time. The Sheriff's Office is working in conjunction with these agencies to quickly identify the victim and solve this crime.
