Betty White to headline new event in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB/CTFP) - Television legend and recent Saturday Night Live host Betty White is coming to Chattanooga.
Channel 3's newspaper partner, The Chattanooga Times Free Press, presents the first annual Life: An Expo for Boomers & Seniors on August 15. The event will run 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Chattanooga Trade & Convention Center. The organizers describe the new event as a "premier resource for all things important to seniors and baby boomers- health screenings, assisted living, financial planning, graceful aging, and much, much more."
Betty White, 88, is best known for her role as Rose Nylund on the sitcom Golden Girls. But she is popular again with a younger generation as a pop culture icon. White picked up an Emmy nomination Thursday for her recent role on NBC's Saturday Night Live. In an interview with the Times Free Press, she called hosting "SNL" a lot of fun and a challenge. She gave the credit for all of the funny skits in which she was involved to producer Lorne Michaels and the writers.
"Lorne Michaels is a genius," she said.
"I also had the privilege of working with Tina Fey and a great cast. I didn't have any input into the scripts, and I didn't have to say, ‘No, I won't do that' to anything."
