Anonymous donor helps Salvation Army 'Beat the Heat'
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - When it comes to beating the heat, a little can go a long way.
That's why the Salvation Army is thrilled about this donation of 20 fans to its "Beat the Heat" campaign.
Each year, the organization gives out box fans and water to people who don't have any other way to keep cool.
One day after Channel 3 aired the story about need, the donor got a group of co-workers to help buy the fans. He didn't want any recognition.
"He said his family, his father, believed in the work of the Salvation Army and thought this was just an easy way to help make a difference," says Will Hale from the Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army has given out 27 fans this summer.
The organization still needs donations.
You can drop off fans or money at any Salvation Army location in your community.
