East Ridge man charged with attempted murder
EAST RIDGE (WRCB)-- On Wednesday, July 7th at approximately 2:45am East Ridge Police responded to 1107 Edwin Ln. in reference to a disorder with a weapon.
Upon arrival officers were told by the victim that her boyfriend had tried to kill her. During the investigation the victim stated her boyfriend had placed a handgun to her head and pulled the trigger several times.
The suspect then went to the victim's car and using the handgun broke out a window. The suspect began throwing items out of the vehicle and onto the ground. As the victim attempted to pick up the items the suspect pushed her to the ground and stomped on her hand.
The suspect had fled the scene prior to officer's arrival; however officers located him at his home at 5003 Kenton Dr. East Ridge, TN. The suspect who has been identified as Jarmin J. Hopper, age 41 of East Ridge was taken into custody without incident.
A 9mm handgun was seized and placed into evidence from Mr. Hopper's home. Mr. Hopper was transported to the Hamilton County Jail and charged with attempted murder, aggravated domestic assault, and domestic vandalism.
He is being held on $210,000 bond and is scheduled to be in East Ridge Municipal Court on Tuesday, July 20th at 5pm.
