HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB)-- At 11:15 am, Lakesite Marina owner, Ronnie Pittman, called 911 to report a house boat that was taking on water at Lakesite Marina (Dallas Bay area).

Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting a house boat in the water and requested additional manpower and boats. Sale Creek Volunteer Fire Department and Volunteer State Rescue responded to assist Dallas Bay VFD.

Responders immediately placed water boom in the water to contain the small gas spill that surrounded the submerged house boat. They also used pump systems to pull as much water out of the cabin to raise the boat and tow it to dry land.

The owner of the boat, Sam Burke, was out of town. Mr. Burke's houseboat was not insured and damages are estimated to be $5,000. What caused the boat to sink is unknown will be under investigation by Dallas Bay VFD.
