HAMILTON COUNTY (WRCB)-- Hamilton County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to 7146 Sims Road early this morning at approximately 1:30 on a man threatening suicide.

When deputies arrived at the residence, the subject was seen on the front porch with a weapon in his hand.  The callers father took the weapon from him but he reentered the residence where  other weapons were available.

Contact was made with the subject, who had been identified as David Shockey, age 36, who continued to refuse to cooperate or talk with police.  Hamilton County Sheriff's Office SWAT team was contacted and deployed at 3:15 a.m. responding to the Sims Road address.

After several hours Bradley County Sheriff's Office SWAT was notified and requested to bring their heavy armored vehicle to use if needed.  Numerous attempts were made to talk with Mr. Shockey over a period of several hours and at 11:30 a.m. gas was deployed into the residence.

When he exited the house and  confronted by police, he became extremely combative and a taser was used to gain control for his safety and law enforcement safety.

He was transported to Erlanger Hospital by Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services for a mental evaluation.   At this time he will be charged with Domestic Vandalism but other charges may be pending.
