CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - More than a dozen homes are broken into in North Chattanooga with in a mile radius.

From neighborhood watches to security cameras, many are fighting back.

Matt Gentry says "It was obviously a big shock. I did not expect for something like this to happen in this area."

That seems to be the consensus from most North Chattanooga residents whose homes have been broken into last month.

Gentry also says "They will eventually get caught cause what they are doing is too risky."

Matt Gentry's home is not the only North Chattanooga resident who's home was broken into, from June 1st to the 23rd 14 homes were broken into and 3 people were robbed in North Chattanooga.

Sgt. Rebecca Shelton says "A lot of people are gone during the summertime so we see a higher rise in burglaries."

A purse, laptop and other electronics were stolen from a home on Crewsdon Street.

If you have any information on the crimes contact Crime Stoppers at 698-3333.
