HIXSON (WRCB)--A Hixson woman is robbed in broad daylight at her neighborhood drug store and it's all caught on tape.
When Judy Spain met us Wednesday for an interview it was the first time she had left her house since she was robbed Sunday. She's still shaken. Even her teeth would chatter when she talked about it.
"I wasn't scared. I just kept trying to save my life. I didn't know if she had a knife," says Spain.
Fear was likely flushed out by adrenaline for Judy Spain. It was here in this very spot where she tangled with a robbery suspect who made off with her purse.
"She looked me right in the face with such hatred like she was really gonna hurt me bad," says Spain.
You can't see the hatred but the rest was caught on surveillance tape at Walgreens on Hwy 153.
The suspect approaches Spain and tries to steal her purse. You can't see the original scuffle but Spain puts up a fight.
"I was mad. I'd never been in a fight before. I was mad," says Spain.
Mad enough to not only fight back, but chase down the suspect after she made off with her purse.
"It's been a nightmare for me since then physically and mentally," says Spain.
Bruised and rattled, this petite but spunky gal says she would react the same if it happened again. But now she says she's more aware of the people around her.
Take a good look as the suspect runs away. Maybe you have the tip that will track her down.
"She should be behind bars. She could do it to somebody else," says Spain.
Spain says one woman did help her. She spotted the car tag but it was stolen.
Spain says the suspect was Hispanic. If you recognize her or the getaway car, call Crimestoppers at 698-3333.
You could get a cash reward.
