Raccoon moves in at TN Legislature

NASHVILLE (AP) - Tennessee lawmakers grapple with problems every year at Legislative Plaza, but the most recent one is a Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency conundrum.

A raccoon has taken up residence in the underground office complex in downtown Nashville and has eluded capture for weeks.

A sign posted at the cafeteria on Tuesday stated it would be closed the rest of the week because of "Mr. Raccoon."

Connie Ridley, who directs legislative administration, told the Chattanooga Times Free Press the animal - which has been dubbed "Rocky" - was first spotted near the cafeteria trash containers in the parking garage and then moved in through the ceiling ductwork.

TWRA employees were expected to regroup Wednesday after Rocky ignored traps designed to catch animals without hurting them.
