CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)-- Tennessee's unemployment rate for May was 10.4 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from the April rate of 10.5 percent. The national unemployment rate for May 2010 was 9.7 percent.
County non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rates for May 2010, released today, show that the rate decreased in 86 counties, increased in seven counties and remained the same in two counties.
Hamilton County was at 8.6 percent, down from 9.0 in April. Marion County was at 10.6 percent, down from 11.1 in April. Sequatchie County was at 10.5 percent, down from 11.3 in April. Bradley County was at 9.1 percent, down from 9.4 in April. Polk County was at 11.3 percent, down from 11.5 in April.
The Athens Area was at 12.3 percent, down from 13.0 in April. The Chattanooga area was at 8.7 percent, down from 9.0 percent in April. The Cleveland area was at 9.4, down from 9.7 in April.
