East Ridge offers solution for code violations

Posted: Updated:

EAST RIDGE (WRCB)-- The City of East Ridge announced today the launch of a hotline and E-mail reporting system for code violations in East Ridge.  The code enforcement division of East Ridge launched this tool in an effort to partner with citizens in keeping the community attractive and safe.

The hotline is (423) 664-4888.  Citizens may also report code violations by E-mailing codes@eastridgetn.org.

"Code enforcement benefits all East Ridge residents and business owners," said Public Safety Director Eddie Phillips.   "The City's codes have been enacted to ensure an enjoyable community for all: safe, attractive neighborhoods and thriving businesses."

Homes and businesses that meet City codes help maintain and increase property values, according to Director Phillips.  "Healthy, attractive living conditions have been proven to reduce crime in addition to beautifying the community," he adds.

Citizens may report code violations anonymously.  Those interested in receiving an update on the violation must provide their contact information, which will not be shared with the property owner in question.

All complaints will be investigated and verified by a Code Enforcement officer.  If a violation exists the officer will take further action toward obtaining voluntary compliance.

For more information on code enforcement in East Ridge, please contact the East Ridge Code Enforcement Division at (423) 867-7711 or visit www.eastridgetn.org.
