JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WRCB/AP) - The man charged with murdering a teenage newlywed couple from Chickamauga, Georgia and beheading the groom goes on trial Monday.

Investigators say 59-year-old Howard Hawk Willis killed 17-year-old Adam Chrismer and 16-year-old Samantha Leming Chrismer in early October 2002. They believe the couple and Willis were involved in drugs together.

Their bodies were found in a Johnson City rental storage unit after the boy's head was found in Boone Lake and his hands were discovered nearby.

The jury for Willis' trial was chosen in Knoxville.

After firing a series of court-appointed lawyers, Willis will represent himself with an attorney as elbow counsel.

Channel 3 Eyewitness News will be working with the NBC affiliate in Johnson City for continuing trial coverage on-air and on-line.
