CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Chattanooga Police responded to a residential robbery at a home in 400 block of Shawnee Trail tonight and found that the home owner had been shot.
Preliminary information provided that the 59-yr-old male had returned home after picking up his wife and found an intruder in the home. An altercation between the intruder and the gunman ensued and the home owner was shot in the back. The man's son, who was in another room being held by a second suspect, was able to get away and call police when his father entered the home.
The suspects fled the scene in an unknown direction of travel after the shooting. The home owner was taken to a local hospital where he's being treated for a non-life threatening injury to the back.
Investigators are still working on details in the case and more information will be released as they become available.
