ATLANTA (AP) - Two Republicans and five Democrats are vying to become their party's nominee for secretary of state.
Incumbent Brian Kemp, a Republican, has been in office less than six months, since Karen Handel stepped aside in late December to focus on her bid to become the Republican gubernatorial candidate.
In the GOP primary, Kemp faces former Sandy Springs city councilman Doug MacGinnitie.
Trying to win the Democratic nomination are: Gary Horlacher, a lawyer from Peachtree City; state Sen. Gail Buckner of Jonesboro; Angela Moore, a medical personnel company owner from Decatur; Michael Mills, a public relations consultant from Atlanta; and state Rep. Georganna Sinkfield of Atlanta.
