Delays in TN doctor's court hearing

CHATTANOOGA. (AP) - A change-of-plea hearing for a rural Tennessee doctor indicted in 2008 in connection with three overdose deaths has been delayed by questions about an unrelated health fraud case.

Dr. Elizabeth Reimers of Winchester faces charges of inappropriately prescribing painkillers without medical justification.

Reimers has pleaded not guilty to a 130-count indictment.

A change-of-plea hearing had been set for Tuesday.

But court records show that a federal judge in Chattanooga has delayed that hearing until Aug. 2nd.

Defense attorney Jerry Summers asked that the hearing be delayed until after a federal appeals court acts on questions about search warrant in an unrelated Memphis health fraud case that questions whether investigators must have a "particular list" of what they intend to seize with a warrant.
