CHICAGO. (WRCB) -- President Barack Obama will honor American soldiers that sacrificed their lives during war time.

President Obama will be speaking at a Memorial Day celebration at the Abraham Lincoln Cemetery just south of Chicago on Monday and laying a wreath.

It has been a tradition for the president to honor America's fallen soldiers by laying a wreath at the annual Memorial Day event held at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington.

Instead, Vice President Joe Biden will lay the wreath at Arlington causing some to criticize Obama for not appearing at what they call America's "most hallowed burial grounds."

This is the second time Obama will speak at Lincoln Cemetery. The first appearance was in 2005.

He and his family spent the weekend at their Chicago home.
