Chattanooga Police are trying to put the brakes on an armed robbery spree that say is masterminded by the same suspect.
Detectives say the same man has robbed at least four retail stores, two in the same day. One was a Christian bookstore.
Debbie Hodges says it can happen to anyone but it happened Monday, in broad day light man armed with a gun strolled right into Lifeway Christian Bookstore and told the cashier he'd use the gun he demanded the money.
Hodges says, "Our employee is fine, we're all fine we're here to do God's work and we're not gonna let that stop us."
The suspect didn't stop there. Detectives say minutes later. The same man seen in surveillance video hit the Family Dollar store on Lee Highway.
Sabrina Canteen says she shops at the Lee Highway Family Dollar just about everyday. She says, "That's crazy, makes you think about locking your door and being careful for the summer."
Detectives say he used the same silver pistol to hold up the Dollar General earlier in the month, it's just doors down from Family Dollar.
Investigator Jeff Bryden says, "He's going in with nylon mask and with a towel around his neck."
So take a good look at his stature and what he's using to get away. Your tip could help police track down a suspect they want behind bars before the violence escalates.
Bryden says that could happen. He says, "It could especially if somebody wants to fight or refuse to give it up who knows what he's willing to do to get the money."
Detectives say the suspect is a black male, 20-30 years old and about 5'7" to 5'10". He has a thin build. Detectives also say he could be borrowing various cars to escape and may even have others helping him as a lookout. Police say he was using silver Toyota 4Runner in one robbery and a dark blue or black pickup truck in another. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers at 698-3333.
