CHATTANOOGA (WRCB)- The annual rite of finding new principals just got a bit more challenging for Hamilton County Superintendent Jim Scales.  East Ridge High's Ron Peck has added his name to the list of principals who are leaving their schools.

Unlike others announced previously, Peck doesn't plan to retire.  He hopes to land in another position within the school district.

Peck tells Eyewitness News, "I hate to leave East Ridge High, it's a great place, and I was only able to give them one year.  But it's just the right thing for me to do at this time of my life."

Peck is a graduate of East Ridge High, and began his career in 1977 as a teacher at Ringgold Middle School.  He worked in various north Georgia schools until 2006, ending his career there as principal of Ridgeland High School.  He made the move to Hamilton County in 2007, becoming assistant principal of Hixson High School before taking the East Ridge High job last year.

He holds a Bachelors of Science in Education from Middle Tennessee State University, a Masters of Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and an Educational Specialist Degree from Jacksonville State University.

The East Ridge High principal job was posted by the school district on Wednesday, and is one of several administrative and central office positions yet to be filled.
