Business Owners Say No Way To Tax Hike

Posted: Updated:

Some Chattanooga business owners say now is not the time for a tax hike!

Chattanooga Mayor Ron Littlefield is proposing a 64 cent property tax hike.  That would tack on 160 dollars a year on a 100 thousand dollar home.  That can be an even bigger chunk  for some commercial property.   It was the lunch topic at Nikki's today, for customers, and the owner.

June Jones says, "With the property I have I'm very fortunate to have it, my goodness if they keep taxing it, and insurance keeps going up I can't even afford to keep it you know."

City council members say it's too early to say this tax hike will pass. They still have plenty to discuss.  The budget will be approved on June 30th.
