BRADLEY COUNTY (WRCB) -- Officers with the Bradley County Sheriff's Office and the Cleveland Police Department worked together to identify a suspect in 53 burglaries across Bradley County.

Howard Montgomery Callaway, 35, was arrested on April 13th at his home on Woodlawn Avenue hours after the sheriff's deputies responded to a burglary in progress on Letha Lane.  Investigators say Callaway was identified as a suspect based on the homeowner's description of the man she saw coming out of her house.

Since his arrest, officers say Callaway has cooperated to solve a series of burglaries in the city and county dating back to October 12th.

The thief took only jewelry with a combined value of $204,000.  Most pieces were sold to a scrap metal dealer outside the county and could not be found.

Callaway remains in the Bradley County jail without bond on charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, and theft.  He will face more charges stemming from the 53 burglaries.
