Polk County Drowning Victim

POLK. (WRCB)- A 22-year-old man is dead after an accidental drowning at the Horns Creek Resort.

Alvin L Derby Jr was found by rescue divers at around 8 PM after being submerged for about an hour.

Derby was on a trip with Mercy and Truth Ministry and had just finished eating at the dining hall 15 minutes before entering the water.

Ceasar Thomas, a witness, said he attempted to help Derby after hearing cries for help.

The victim was transported by Bradley County medical personnel to Skyridge Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

    An inmate was killed and a deputy was critically injured following a shooting at the Vanderbilt clinic at 100 Oaks Mall on Wednesday afternoon.
