MURPHY, NC (WRCB)-North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation has arrested Murphy Police Department Sergeant Michael Thurman Hall and charged him with 11 counts of Indecent Liberties and 11 counts of 1st Degree Sexual Offense.

The girl, who was younger than 13 at the time, was assaulted between August 1986 and May 1989, according to arrest warrants. Hall was 27 the year the assaults started.

He was hired as a police dispatcher in 1992 and was promoted to patrol sergeant in June 2005.

Hall was arrested and booked in Cherokee County and later he was transferred to Haywood County. His bond was set at $500,000.

His first court appearance is Friday. The SBI investigation is ongoing.
