CPD Officer Resigns over Motorcycle Gang Affiliation

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) - Channel 3 Eyewitness News has confirmed a tip that Derrick Pendergrass resigned from the Chattanooga Police Department on Tuesday. Pendergrass was on Administrative leave awaiting the outcome of an Internal Affairs investigation of allegations of associating with members of the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang who were believed to be known felons, which is a violation of Department policy. This internal investigation on Pendergrass stemmed from the A.T.F. investigation into the Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.
THURSDAY MARCH 4TH
CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- A security officer with Chattanooga State is on administrative leave in relation to the sting on the Outlaw Motorcycle Club.
Former Chattanooga Police Lt Fred Layne worked as security officer at the community college.
Chattanooga State released this statement Thursday afternoon,
"We were notified by law enforcement of this investigation. Mr. Layne was then placed on administrative leave, pending the results of that investigation and our own internal review of the matter."
