Police Make Arrest in Kanku Shooting

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, TN (WRCB) Police have made an arrest in a weekend murder at a gas station.

29 year old Jamaal Byrd has been arrested and charged with 1st degree murder for shooting Terrance Etchison Saturday night at the Kanku's convenience store on Wilcox Boulevard.

Police believe Etchison and Byrd had words inside the Kanku's and then carried over to the parking lot.

That's when Byrd allegedly pulled a gun and shot Etchison in the area of the upper torso.

This gas station has seen it's fair share of violence over the last couple of months and community leaders say they want the gas station's owners to take more responsibility.

No motive has been determined in the shooting.

Commissioner Beck and other community members plan to hold a rally at the gas station Friday.
