WALKER COUNTY, GA (WRCB) The community came together Wednesday night to support a sheriff who's battling cancer.
A blood drive was held in honor of Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson and organizers say they had a great turnout.
Sheriff Wilson was diagnosed in October with multiple myeloma.
He's in remission and he says his last chemotherapy treatment was Wednesday, but his fight isn't over yet.
Next month, Sheriff Wilson will have to have a stem cell transplant, but the community wants the sheriff to know he isn't alone in the battle.
This blood drive is over, but you can still give blood in his name at any Blood Assurance.
