Fmr School Board Chairman Sentenced for Child Porn

Posted: Updated:

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) - A former Moore County school board chairman has been sentenced to almost seven years in prison after pleading for leniency in a child pornography case.

A federal judge in Chattanooga sentenced David Camp of Lynchburg to 80 months Monday. Camp pleaded guilty to possessing child porn. He was also charged in July 2009 with distributing child porn, before the plea agreement.

Camp's attorney, Brandon Raulston, said Monday that the sentence by U.S. District Judge Harry S. "Sandy" Mattice (muh-TYS') was fair. Camp faced a possible penalty of 10 years in prison.

A federal agent has said Camp asked to be shot dead when he was arrested. Records show he was involved in child pornography for years.

Camp was Moore County's school board chairman from October 2005 until September 2008.
