TENNESSEE VALLEY (WRCB) -- Snow is the Tennessee Valley blanketed the area, forcing school systems to dismiss early and government offices to close.
The largest school system in the area, Hamilton County, was already scheduled for a half day of classes but the winter weather forced the cancellation of all after school events. Other school systems in the area shut down early. Among them in Georgia: Chattooga County, Dade County, Dalton City, Fannin County, Murray County, Trion City, Walker County and Whitfield County. In Tennessee, Etowah City, McMinn County, Meigs County and Polk County closed early. In Alabama, Dekalb County, Scottsboro and Fort Payne were the first to close in the area.
In Chattanooga, city offices closed at 3pm and all non-essential personnel were told to go home. The Bicentennial Library closed its doors too.
