By David Carroll
SIGNAL MOUNTAIN, TN (WRCB)- A longtime Hamilton County Commissioner and civic leader has died.
Dr. Paul V. Nolan of Signal Mountain died Thursday night after a brief illness. His wife Anne tells Eyewitness News that "he was in very little pain, and passed quietly." She says a memorial service will be announced later, "to accomodate our friends and family from other parts of the country. He had friends everywhere." She said it was his wish to donate his body to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Dr. Nolan was a member of the Hamilton County Quarterly Court from 1966 until 1978, and served as a state representative from 1968 to 1970. He served four terms on the County Commission, serving the Signal Mountain/Red Bank area from 1982 until 1998.
Dr. Nolan is survived by his wife, who is a former mayor of Signal Mountain, as well as two sons, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was 85 years old.
